For two days, I had the pleasure of accompanying Gabriel Attal to London for a symbolic trip on the occasion of June 18. We first paid tribute to the spirit of resistance of General de Gaulle, on the occasion of the ceremony on June 18 at Carlton Gardens.
Alongside the ambassador Hélène Duchêne, many young people from the Charles de Gaulle and Winston Churchill high schools were present to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the famous call. Their presence is a message of hope: that of a living and transmitted memory.

This visit was also an opportunity for a lively exchange with former Prime Minister Tony Blair. We talked about artificial intelligence, the future of the European continent and the challenges of democracies. A rich dialogue, which recalls the importance of building bridges between our countries to face the major challenges of tomorrow.

Finally, we held a citizens' meeting in the presence of many French people from London. With Gabriel Attal, we discussed the values that unite us: freedom, secularism, sovereignty, but also the concrete consequences of Brexit on their daily lives.

Thank you to all those who were present, and who make live this beautiful French community of the United Kingdom with commitment and pride.
