I had the honour of accompanying the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, on an official two-day visit to Oslo - the first by a French head of state in Norway since François Mitterrand in 1984.
This visit is part of a strategic continuity: trips to Greenland and Sweden, and a welcome from the King of Denmark in Paris. France is firmly focused on Northern Europe, Scandinavia and the Arctic, key regions for our common future.

Norway is a long-standing, reliable and committed partner. More than 5,000 French nationals live there today. Together, we are facing shared challenges: energy transition, industrial sovereignty, technological innovation, European defence and climate adaptation.
During this visit, a number of concrete bilateral agreements were signed, including a structuring partnership between our two economics ministers on carbon capture and storage. A strong signal to speed up the decarbonisation of our economies.

I was able to measure the extent to which the relationship between Paris and Oslo is based on trust, shared interests and a common ambition for the future of Europe.
I would like to warmly thank our Norwegian partners for their welcome and their commitment. More than ever, I will remain committed to keeping the ties between our two countries alive!
