« Bill aimed at getting France out of the drug trafficking trap adopted by the Law Commission

This week, in the Law Commission, we took an essential step in the fight against drug trafficking with the adoption of the bill aimed at ridding France of this scourge.

As co-rapporteur of this bill, I had the honour of defending it and supporting the amendments that strengthened it. This text is based on a clear observation : we are not sufficiently equipped to deal with the rise in delinquency and organised crime. Thanks to the advances adopted in committee, it will provide more effective tools for the police, better support for mayors faced with this violence and greater protection for our children.

The legislative work has made it possible to improve the initial version adopted by the Senate, by adapting the measures to the realities on the ground. Next week, this text will be examined in the public session of the National Assembly.

The challenge will be to unite a broad majority, because the fight against drug trafficking transcends political divisions. I hope that we will be able to move forward collectively on this crucial issue and give our country the means to better combat the trafficking that is ravaging our territories.
