Heading north-west : Manchester

During the week when Parliament was in recess, I headed to the North West of England for a two-day trip.

The first stop was the city of the Red Devils and the Citizens, where many French people live and make our country shine. I started the week by joining the great team from the University of Manchester's French-speaking association, which promotes the French language. They gave me a tour of their campus with its magnificent architecture and then we talked about their course, student life and their questions.

I then went to meet Ludovic Piot-Williams at Épicerie LUDO in South Manchester.

This Frenchman founded his grocery shop in 2011 and now offers a very wide range of both local and regional French products.

We then visited the Alliance Française de Manchester.

It was a friendly moment at this institution, which is essential for promoting the French language. We ended the day at their offices with a citizens' meeting to discuss a wide range of subjects : passport renewals from abroad, the global geopolitical situation, the daily lives of French people in Manchester, and a look back at my first seven months as a Member of Parliament...

Thank you to all the French people in Manchester and to their Honorary Consul, Rodolphe Soulard, for this great day.
