I’ve just come back from Denmark !

Four months after my first trip, I had the pleasure of meeting the French in Denmark for two days in Copenhagen.

2025 has begun with its share of worries for the French living in Denmark. President Trump recently declared that he wanted to ‘acquire’ Greenland, either by trade or by force. These statements are an attack on the fundamental right and sovereignty of European borders. Borgen season 4 predicted it... it's up to us to find a solution. Because of global warming, the Arctic is becoming a central geopolitical region.

To put this issue on the agenda and reaffirm France's support for its Danish ally, I tabled a motion for a European resolution on my return from Denmark :

It was against this backdrop that I visited the French people in Denmark. In Copenhagen, concern is giving way to optimism. I saw this in my discussions with you, with committed French citizens, associations, schoolchildren, honorary consuls and the elected members of the consular council, Marie-José Caron and her colleagues Luc de Visme and Pascal Badache.

The French community in Denmark is one of the youngest and fastest growing in Europe, and I understood why when I met you. It's also how I continue to keep your confidence, so that I can explain in Paris, at the National Assembly, the realities of expatriation, beyond the clichés.
