On behalf of the French Republic, and by decision of the Minister for Sport, the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games, we have the honour of awarding you the gold medal for youth, sport and community involvement.
These were the words I spoke in London to Marie, Constance and Matthias: all three Scouts and Guides de France, rewarded for their years of commitment. This was my first award ceremony as a Member of Parliament, and it was a particularly emotional experience, marked above all by the honour of celebrating lives dedicated to serving others.
That is also the role of an MP.
